Ghanaian ex-vice president’s wife Ramatu Mahama dies in Accra hospital

Hajia Ramatu Mahama, the wife of former Vice President Aliu Mahama, has passed away.
She was 70 years old and would have clocked 71 on October 15, 2022.
According to reports from Accra, Hajia Ramatu gave up the ghost at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital on Thursday after a brief illness.
GhanaWeb repoted that Hajia Ramatu had been battling a heart-related illness for two years and had been to the United Kingdom for treatment.
A formal announcement will be made to the government by her family members before she is buried according to Muslim rites, local news outlet Daily Guide reported.
Hajia Ramatu Mahama was the daughter of the late Imoro Egala, a Minister for Trade and Industry and first black chairman of COCOBOD, in the first Republic and a long-standing political stalwart in Ghana through to the third Republic; doubling as a founder of the PNP now PNC.
She was second lady between 2001 and 2008, under the John Agyekum Kufour government in which her late husband served as vice president.
The late Hajia Ramatu Mahama is survived by four children, namely; Salma Mahama, Farouk Mahama, MP for Yendi, Fayad Mahama, and Halim Mahama.
