Why I tore up my prayer requests – Toke Makinwa
Media personality and actress, Toke Makinwa, recently shared insights into her relationship with God and the struggles she faces in understanding the complexities of life.
In a candid revelation on Twitter, she explained why she woke up and tore up all her prayer requests.
Toke expressed a shift in her perspective, noting that tragic events don’t necessarily befall those who are against God.
She realized that God owes nothing to anyone, and both good and bad occurrences are inherent in life. She urged people to focus on doing their part and embracing the unpredictable nature of life.
“I tore up my prayer requests because we are often obsessed with what we want God to do next that we do not live in the moment, whether it be good or bad,” she clarified, emphasizing the importance of living in the present.
While affirming her belief in God’s existence, Toke admitted to struggling with the widespread pain and suffering in the world.
She questioned the reasons behind the hardships, the excruciating nature of death, and the occurrence of misfortunes, especially among young people.
Makinwa urged against misinterpreting her statements, clarifying that she does not negate the power of prayer or the possibility of God changing circumstances.
Instead, she encouraged a balanced perspective, advocating for a mindful appreciation of the present moment.
“The people whose misfortune happens to also are loved by God. They also pray, they also believe too. Life will happen as it’s been programmed to happen,” she concluded.
