What I told Tinubu when we met – Tax committee student-member
Orire Agbaje, a 21-year-old undergraduate from the University of Ibadan, has been thrust into the spotlight after being selected to attend the inauguration of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms on August 8th.
The 400-level Economics student, who also serves as the president of her university’s Tax Club, was chosen by the committee’s Chairman, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, to give the vote of thanks at the event.
In an interview with BBC Pidgin, Agbaje revealed that her meeting with President Tinubu had inspired her to strive for even greater heights in her career.
“I thought I was doing too much, but after I met with the president, it looks like I haven’t done enough, and there is room for me to learn many things,” she said.
Agbaje’s university tax club is a committee member, and they send representatives to attend meetings.
During her conversation with President Tinubu, Agbaje shared her aspirations and admired the Nigeria he is building.
“When I met the president, he first asked me to tell him about myself and my career aspirations. I also used the opportunity to tell him we’re looking up to the Nigeria he’s building,” she recalled.
