WAFU U17 Cup: Golden Eaglets defeat Burkina Faso to enter finals
The Golden Eaglets have secured their place in the WAFU U17 Cup finals after a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso on Friday.
Michael Emmanuel sent the Eaglets, who had a pretty slow start to their WAFU campaign, into the finals with a 77th-minute goal against the Group A winners.
Fatai Amoo’s Eaglets began the campaign in Togo with a 1-0 loss o Cote d’Ivoire in their opening Group B match courtesy.
Ghana scuppered their attempt to bounce back in the second game, but a 1-1 draw against the Black Starlets upped their chances of elimination, leaving their qualification hanging on a thread.
The five-time world champions made the last four by a miracle after the Black Starlets crumbled to a 3-1 defeat to Les Petits Elephants (Cote D’Ivoire) at the Stade Municipal, Lome.
Having qualified for the finals, the Eaglets await the winner of the second semifinals between Cote D’Ivoire and Niger Republic.
Amoo’s boys have also now booked a spot at the U17 Afcon in Morocco
