Ex-Falcons coach, Mudasiru Yusuff, is dead.
The sudden and shocking death of Osogbo-born former BCC Lions of Gboko and Obaye Babes of Otukpo, Benue State coach occurred on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at a private hospital in Oshogbo.
Osun United, who joined large number of people, particularly from the football community at his residence in Ayetoro Area, Osogbo described the loss as huge, sudden and shocking.
Reacting, President of Osun United, Chief Ademola Adesina described the deceased as a disciplinarian who knew his onions and was always ready to promote grassroot football during his active days.
“Coach Muda was a great, disciplined and ambitious coach during his days. I remember when he was in charge of BCC Lions of Gboko Football Club, he took some local players from Osun to the team and assisted many grassroot footballers. We will definitely miss him and his wealth of experience,” stated Chief Adesina.
Late Yusuf retired as the Head Coach at the Osun State Sports Council in 2017 after 25 years of active service where he led Osun football team to several victories in the football tournaments at the National Sports Festivals
After leading Osun to a victory in the national under 13 football tournaments, Coach Yusuf tutored the side to a resounding victory at the U-15 Copa International Madel Plata in Argentina in 2005.
He was also the immediate past Chairman, Nigeria Football Coaches Association of Nigeria, Osun State Chapter.
Late Yusuf was born at Mogba’s Compound, Osogbo in 1954. After his secondary education at the Ilesha Grammar School, Osun State, he also held a Diploma Certificate from Onitsha Polytechnic.
He attended several coaching courses at the Nigeria Institute of Sports (NIS) Lagos and possessed CAF B, CAF C and FIFA Coaching licences, which gave him opportunities to be among the Coaching Crew of the Super Falcons and Golden Eaglets of Nigeria.
