An intense confrontation involving fans of Chelsea and Manchester City in the streets of Porto left a fan drenched in blood ahead of the Champions League final.

Fans of both Premier League clubs were said to have clashed in separate groups near the Douro river, before other rival groups clashed on a busy main road, according to Football London.

In the same vein, two other rival groups were caught on video throwing punches and chairs at each other near the entrance of the Sao Bento railway station.

However, one of the fans was said to have been drenched in blood just as the Police confirmed that one man had been taken to Santo Antonio Hospital following an incident at around 10pm local time on Thursday night.

A third of the 50,000 capacity of the Estadio do Dragao which accounts for about 16,500 fans are expected to watch the final on Saturday.

Reports revealed that the Portuguese authorities are planning to increase the security ahead of the all-Premier League Champions League clash tomorrow and fans who would be allowed into the stadium must have tested negative for COVID-19.
