Popular Nigerian social media activist, Martins Vincent Otse, known as Verydarkman, has expressed his gratitude to fans after raising ₦21 million for his newly launched Non-Governmental Organisation.
The funds were raised in less than 24 hours following his public plea for support.
Verydarkman recently announced his initiative aimed at making learning more enjoyable for pupils in public primary schools across Nigeria.
The social media activist shared his vision of providing modern educational equipment to improve learning experiences, especially for young students in underprivileged areas.
In a viral video, VDM revealed that most of the donations came from small contributions, such as ₦500, ₦200, and even ₦72, showing how many people were willing to help despite their limited resources. He also mentioned that the largest single donation he received was ₦2 million.
“I have received up to ₦21 million barely 24 hours since I announced my NGO. Most of the money contributed was from ₦500, ₦200 downwards. It means most people don’t really have, but they still want to support,” Verydarkman said.
In appreciation, VDM selected four of his fans to receive ₦250,000 each for self-development.
He had earlier encouraged his followers to share the new skills they wanted to learn, and after reviewing the responses, he picked four deserving individuals.
He also outlined plans to verify the institutions where these selected fans will pursue their skills.
