Former Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy has humorously recalled how Nigerian teammates Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho treated injuries with a strong cream during their time at the club.

In a video shared on X by Cleverly, Vardy described the treatment as “juju cream” while recounting the unusual recovery method during an appearance on the Highbury Boyz Podcast. Clips from the interview also circulated on Instagram and other social media platforms.

Vardy said Ndidi and Iheanacho would apply the cream whenever they suffered knocks or injuries, leaving their teammates surprised by how quickly they appeared ready to return to action.

The former England international jokingly suggested that the balm carried special powers because of the way the Nigerian players trusted it.

Social media posts identified the substance as Aboniki Balm, a popular Nigerian ointment commonly used for muscular pain, body aches, sprains and minor injuries.

The story drew laughter from the podcast hosts and generated reactions from Nigerian football fans, many of whom recognised the strong-smelling balm and shared similar experiences of using it.

Ndidi and Iheanacho both joined Leicester City in 2017 and spent several seasons playing alongside Vardy at the King Power Stadium. Their time together included domestic success and memorable moments for the club.

Although Vardy called it “juju cream,” his comments appeared playful rather than a suggestion that the players used anything supernatural.

The viral account has since reminded fans of the close relationship and dressing-room humour shared by Vardy, Ndidi and Iheanacho during their years together at Leicester.
