Nigerian content creator and streamer, Carter Efe, has revealed that Afrobeats superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, helped him earn the largest amount of money he has ever made through a single livestream.

Carter made the disclosure during a recent episode of the Cocktails & Takeaways podcast, where he discussed his streaming journey, his relationship with Davido and the rapid expansion of digital content creation in Nigeria.

According to the content creator, Davido’s appearance on one of his livestreams drew a massive audience and had a major impact on his earnings from the session.

“Davido made me the biggest money of my life on a stream in one night. I became a big boy overnight,” he said.

Carter’s experience underscores the increasing earning potential for Nigerian creators through livestreaming, digital platforms and collaborations with prominent figures in the entertainment industry.

In December 2025, Davido appeared alongside Carter during a Twitch livestream that reportedly recorded more than 80,000 concurrent viewers.

The high-profile appearance was also reportedly followed by a substantial rise in Carter’s followers and subscribers on the platform.

Carter Efe, whose real name is Oderhohwo Efe, first rose to prominence through comedy and music before broadening his career into livestreaming and other forms of digital entertainment.

The expanding creator economy in Nigeria has opened alternative paths to income, entrepreneurship and employment for young people, while allowing local creators to present Nigerian talent and culture to audiences around the world.

The trend has also increased the influence of social media and digital platforms within Nigeria’s entertainment sector, giving creators more ways to monetise their audiences and work with established musicians, entertainers and brands.
