A 50-year-old woman from Santa Rosa, California, United States of America, was arrested Saturday evening on suspicion of driving under the influence after her vehicle crashed into a utility pole, bringing down multiple power lines and prompting a road closure, according to police.
The crash occurred at about 6:25 p.m. near the intersection of Bluebell Drive and Coffey Lane, the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a statement.
The area is located near Santa Rosa Creek, roughly three miles from downtown Santa Rosa.
“Upon arrival, officers observed that a vehicle had struck a power pole, bringing down power lines in the area,” police said.
Following a preliminary investigation, officers determined that the driver, identified as Maira Reyna Sancen Ramirez, 50, of Santa Rosa, was allegedly impaired at the time of the crash.
She was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence.
As of Saturday night, Sonoma County jail records did not list Ramirez as being in custody.
Police said a portion of the roadway remained closed Saturday night while Pacific Gas and Electric crews worked to repair the damaged utility lines.
Authorities also urged residents to avoid the area until the repairs were completed.
