US speaker to move ahead with impeachment inquiry into president Biden

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy announced on Tuesday that the House Republicans will move ahead with an impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
McCarthy said that the inquiry is the “logical next step” to gather the full facts and answers about the allegations of corruption against Biden and his son, Hunter.
“Today, I am directing our House committee to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden,” McCarthy said at the U.S. Capitol, according to ABC News.
He also said that the inquiry will give the House committees the full power to investigate the matter.
The inquiry will be led by House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer, House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, and House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith.
McCarthy said that he does not make this decision lightly, but that the allegations against Biden are serious and credible.
The speaker also stated that the inquiry is in the best interests of the American people.
