Umahi gifts 13-year-old maths whizz N10m

A 13-year-old boy from Abia State, Nigeria, has been gifted N10 million by the Minister of Works, Engr Dave Umahi, for his mathematical ingenuity.

The boy, Greatness Ebisike, is a Senior Secondary School One student who is said to have aced all mathematical questions thrown at him without the use of a calculator.

Umahi was reportedly impressed by Ebisike’s performance when he encountered him on a journey to an official event in Lagos.

According to a statement released by Barr. Orji Uchenna Orji, the Minister’s spokesperson, he subsequently made the gift of N10 million to the boy to assist in furthering his education.

“It was a great and remarkable day for Greatness Ebisike, a highly skilled and mathematically talented chap, when he encountered the usual and rare benevolence of the Hon. Minister of Works, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Engr. David Nweze Umahi.”

“The chap who is currently in his Senior Secondary School One in Lagos is 13 years old and hails from Abia State. His sense of mathematical calculation and accuracy in result is simply amazing. He is quick in providing answers to algebraic questions, especially questions on multiplication and addition in Mathematics. Ask him any mathematical question and he replies correctly in just few seconds,” the statement read.

The minister also urged Ebisike to keep up the passion and get developed in his passion, as that would make him a precious resource in the world market.

Ebisike and his guardian were said to have been thrilled by the minister’s benevolence, describing it as a “golden day in their life.”

In a statement, the minister encouraged Nigerians to develop the talent around them for the future of the country.
