Ukraine is ready to support Turkey’s initiative for a mutual moratorium on attacks on civilian vessels, commercial ports and energy infrastructure in the Black Sea.
Ukraine’s Ambassador to Turkey Nariman Dzhelyalov made the statement during a press briefing in Ankara, according to Ukrinform.
He said Kyiv supports unrestricted civilian navigation and is prepared to work with Ankara on measures aimed at strengthening the safety of maritime transport in the Black Sea.
Dzhelyalov urged shipowners, vessel operators and crews to remain mindful of military threats and comply with existing navigational warnings while operating in the region.
The ambassador said Russia has damaged or destroyed at least 1,054 Ukrainian port infrastructure facilities and carried out attacks on 232 civilian vessels since the start of the full-scale war.
He added that more than 30 attacks targeting civilian maritime infrastructure and vessels were recorded during the summer of 2026 alone.
According to Dzhelyalov, the attacks have resulted in the deaths or injuries of 307 Ukrainian and foreign citizens.
