Published

Super Eagles left-back, Zaidu Sanusi netted his first Champions League goal to help FC Porto beat Olympique Marseille in Wednesday night’s clash.

Sanusi broke the deadlock in the 39th minute after two attempts as Mandanda denied him on the first try from a corner-kick.

The Nigerian’s hunger for more continued in the 51st minute when he fired another shot but could only find the side net.

Dimitri Payet almost laid up Thauvin with a sleek pass into the Porto box with only the keeper to beat but Sanusi made a last-minute brilliant clearance to keep the scoreline at 1-0.

Things got worse for the away side after midfielder, Grujic got sent off in the 67th minute after getting his second yellow of the game following a challenge with Marseille’s Cuisance.

The home side made a mess of the one-man advantage as defender, Leonardo Balerdi got a red card (second yellow) following a challenge on Porto’s Marega, giving away a penalty.

Porto’s Sérgio Oliveira stepped to score the penalty though Mandanda guessed right, he couldn’t prevent Porto from doing 2-0 up.

The win saw Porto move to second spot with 9points, three behind Group C leader, Manchester City who have already made it to the knockout phase.
