South African singer Tyla has announced a new scholarship initiative to support young women pursuing music degrees.

The two-time Grammy award-winning star, known for global hits like “Water,” is partnering with Epic Records on the That Girl Music Scholarship.

The scholarship’s name is a nod to the empowered single from Tyla’s recently released album, A*POP. It will be awarded to 10 women students pursuing music degrees at colleges and universities near selected stops on her current tour.

The $5,000 award will go to 10 students who show both financial need and academic excellence. Recipients will be chosen from eligible schools within the specified markets, with priority given to Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

The relevant stops along THE A*POP WORLD TOUR include New York City, Washington, D.C., Tampa, Atlanta, Houston and Los Angeles. One recipient will be chosen from each U.S. location, while four recipients will be chosen from Tyla’s native South Africa.

In addition to the $5,000 reward, scholarship recipients will be offered an exclusive tour experience, including concert tickets and a meet-and-greet with Tyla.

Applicants must be 18 or older and full-time undergraduate students or, for South African applicants, entering or currently enrolled at the time of the local concert. They must be pursuing music and arts-related majors and are expected to submit a one-page personal statement, a 30-second video, a school transcript, and proof of financial need.

Tyla has had a busy 2026. In July, she released her highly anticipated second studio album, A*POP. The project features her ongoing international smash “CHANEL,” summer anthem “IS IT,” and “THAT GIRL.” The album debuted at number one on the Billboard World Albums chart.

Last year, when honoured at the GLAMOUR Women of the Year Awards, Tyla stressed the importance of sisterhood while walking the red carpet. She proclaimed, “The girls are dominating.”
