Drew McIntyre blasts CM Punk, calls him ‘genuine piece of cr*p’

Drew McIntyre has made it clear that his issues with CM Punk remain unresolved, as the former WWE Champion launched another scathing verbal attack on his longtime rival.

Although the two superstars have not competed against each other in recent years, their bitter rivalry from 2024 appears to have left a lasting impression on McIntyre, who says he prefers to keep his distance from Punk whenever possible.

The animosity between the pair intensified in the lead-up to WrestleMania 40, when McIntyre blamed Punk for interfering with his career and taking away his opportunity to compete at the event. The feud subsequently developed into one of WWE’s most personal rivalries of the year.

Speaking on an episode of RAW Talk, McIntyre was asked about his relationship with Punk. The Scottish Warrior made no attempt to hide his disdain for the former WWE Champion, delivering a harsh assessment of his character.

“He’s a piece of crp. I avoid him whenever I can avoid him. Like, it’s like any job. Oh, I’m sure he’s friendly to you. You’ve got a platform where you can talk about him being a piece of crp. But I’m on your platform, and I can tell everybody he’s a genuine piece of cr*p.”

McIntyre’s criticism extended beyond their personal disagreements, as he also questioned whether Punk had genuinely changed since leaving WWE in January 2014.

Punk’s controversial departure from the company followed a period of reported backstage tensions. Reflecting on that chapter of his career, McIntyre argued that Punk’s current public persona does not necessarily reflect a fundamental change in his attitude.

“I mean, he tries to play now that he’s different. He’s better at hiding it now than he used to be. Like, back in the day, everybody couldn’t stand him. He was so full of himself. Like, so many people worked hard to get him in a prominent position. Then he left the company, screwing everybody over that lost for him, gave him this big name—just walked out of the company.”

The comments highlight how deeply the animosity between the two wrestlers ran during their rivalry, which revolved around more than championship ambitions. Their disagreements frequently became personal, with both superstars using interviews and on-screen confrontations to take shots at each other.

McIntyre and Punk Traded Victories in 2024

Their rivalry also produced a series of high-profile matches, with both competitors securing victories during their heated feud.

McIntyre initially defeated Punk at SummerSlam 2024, but Punk subsequently evened the score by winning their Strap Match at Bash in Berlin. The two then faced off inside Hell in a Cell at Bad Blood, where Punk emerged victorious once again.

The results gave Punk the upper hand in their final two encounters, despite McIntyre claiming the first major victory at SummerSlam.

While their in-ring rivalry has not continued at the same intensity, McIntyre’s latest remarks suggest that the personal tension between the former champions has not disappeared. His criticism of Punk’s character and past departure from WWE indicates that the Scottish Warrior still has strong feelings about their history.

Whether the two superstars will renew their rivalry inside the ring remains uncertain, but McIntyre’s latest comments make one thing clear: he has no intention of pretending that he and Punk are on good terms.
