Two suspects apprehended over Sokoto market attack
The Sokoto State Police have made significant strides in apprehending suspects linked to a deadly village market assault that resulted in the loss of six lives in Kiri, Gada Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson ASP Ahmad Rufai confirmed the arrests in a telephone conversation with our correspondent on Sunday.
He revealed that two individuals have been taken into custody in connection with the attack, during which suspected bandits ravaged the market.
Rufai elaborated on the recovery of crucial evidence, stating, “The suspects were arrested with some exhibit including three cows and a Dane gun.” He further disclosed that the apprehended suspects, hailing from Sabon Garin Dole in Goronyo Local Government Area, have admitted to their involvement in the crime.
In a parallel investigation, the police are delving into the reported killing of an alleged armed robbery suspect at the Old Airport axis of the state.
According to community sources, the suspect met his demise in a mob attack after purportedly invading the area with two accomplices who remain at large.
The police have assured the public of their commitment to thorough investigations, vowing to take appropriate actions upon the conclusion of the inquiries.
