Two Lagos residents in court after brawl left policeman with eye injury
Two men were on Monday arraigned in an Ojo Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly assaulting a police officer.
The police charged Yusuf Akanni, 21, and Kafaya Yusuf, 42, with conspiracy and assault.
The Prosecution Counsel, Dr Simeon Uche, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 2, at the Volks bus stop in Ojo.
He alleged that the defendants assaulted Insp Salihu Usman, in the course of discharging his lawful duty.
The prosecution said the defendants inflicted bodily injuries on the officer, who consequently, sustained an eye injury.
The offence, he said, contravenes the provisions of sections 174 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State 2015.
They pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Magistrate Ademola Adesanya admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100,000 each with two sureties each in like sum
He adjourned the case until May 11 for mention.
