Two killed as fuel-laden tanker catches fire in Ogun

No fewer tha two persons have were burned to death after a tanker laden with Premium Motor Spirit burst into flames in the Sango Ota area of Ogun State on Thursday.

Three other people were left injured in the incident which occurred at the old Ota toll gate plaza, on the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway.

A statement by the Federal Road Safety Corps revealed that the fuel-laden tanker burst into flames while it was ascending the Ilo-Awela slope adjoining the highway.

According to Tribune, it was gathered that three persons were seriously burnt and were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.

The tanker was reported to have had a mechanical deficiency while ascending the slope before exploding alongside, three luxury buses; four tricycles; three motorcycles; a yellow commercial bus.

It was gathered that some persons at the accident scene contacted the Fire Service and they came promptly to put out the fire, to prevent a secondary crash.
