Two people have lost their lives with several injured in a multiple-vehicle crash at Second Rainbow Bus Stop along the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway in Lagos.

The tragic accident occurred on Sunday evening and involved a MAN truck, a Honda Accord, and two commercial buses.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, on Monday.

According to the statement, LASEMA received a distress call and immediately dispatched its emergency response team to the scene.

The crash happened when the MAN truck, which was carrying groundnut oil, suffered a mechanical failure while traveling at high speed. The truck lost control and crashed into other vehicles, causing severe damage.

“Unfortunately, two male adults lost their lives in the incident, while several others who suffered various degrees of injuries were attended to by LASAMBUS,” the statement said.

Emergency responders, including LASEMA and LASAMBUS, worked quickly to clear the scene and provide assistance to the injured. The vehicles involved in the crash were extensively damaged, but the accident site was cleared, and the vehicles were towed to Festac Police Station.

The bodies of the deceased were handed over to police officers and later transported to the mortuary.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation, but it is believed that the mechanical failure of the truck played a significant role in the crash.
