Two adults, baby trapped as one-storey building collapses in Lagos
A one-storey building collapsed in the Ebute-Metta area of Lagos State, trapping two adult females and a baby. The collapse occurred in the early hours of Friday morning.
Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the incident, stating, “The Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service is presently responding to an emergency reported at 09:00 hours at 122 Herbert Macaulay Way, Lagos Bus Stop, Ebute Meta, Lagos, where a one-storey building with a penthouse has collapsed.”
The victims, two adults and a baby, all females, are currently trapped in the debris, and efforts for their rescue are underway.
Adeseye said, “Search and rescue efforts are underway.”
On a positive note, she mentioned, “However, an adult female has been successfully rescued and is in stable condition, with the State Emergency Response fully activated.”
However, Adeseye did not provide details on the cause of the building’s collapse.
Rescue operations continue as emergency responders work to safely extract the remaining trapped individuals.
