Exactly eight months after lambasting singers who celebrate the stream numbers of their song, Nigerian singer Burna Boy, has found himself in the web of what he condemns.

Some social media users are presently trolling the singer after he took to Twitter on Monday to post the stream numbers of his songs, awards and other achievements in 2019.

He tweeted:

WuzupNigeria reports that in May 2019, Burna had taken to social media to say the streaming numbers do not imply that a singer is talented and singers should not be carried away by them.

He had said if songs like ‘Baby Shark’, ‘Gangnam Style’, which he described as “joke tings”, can have amazing streaming numbers then no one should get excited about streaming numbers.

His post then was believed to be a subliminal attack aimed at Mayorkun.

The DMW singer had earlier taken to social media to celebrate his attainment of 70 million streams across different platforms.

Burna Boy wrote:

“This streaming shit me making people feel they are talented. If joke tings like Baby Shark’, ‘Gangnam Style’ can do more numbers than everyone. Don’t think you’re talented or respected cuz of your streaming numbers

“Everyone with real working brains knows what is a joke and what is real. Anyway, plenty talk no dey full basket. Let time reveal all,” Burna Boy wrote on his Insta story in May 2019.

Well, on Monday, social media users reminded Burna Boy of the standard he set eight months ago and dragged him for being a hypocrite.

Esther Olayemi posted screenshots of Burna Boy’s May 2019 post and his Monday tweet and tweeted:

Some social media users also expressed anger after Burna Boy blocked a Twitter user @Enitodun who posted a screenshot of the singer’s May 2019 post in the comment section of his tweet.

Shortly after posting the screenshot, @Enitodun earned a block from the singer’s handle.
