Twitter reacts as Sunday Igboho slams Ooni, Tinubu, Makinde

Popular Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho, made the headlines on Wednesday morning for blasting the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC)- Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State.
Igboho’s was furious at the trio, including other politicians in the Yorubaland, over the herdsmen crisis rocking the South-West region.
Speaking during a virtual meeting tagged ‘Townhall With Yoruba In Diaspora’ Igboho labelled the trio of Ogunwusi, Tinubi and Makinde as Fulani slaves who are scared to speak the truth.
Igboho’s comments were without caution and regard for the crown, age or positions to his targets and other politicians, though some people think he was instigated by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III because the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd) invited the Ooni and not him.
“A whole Ooni that can’t speak up. Can’t you see he’s crazy?…
“Tinubu and the other politicians are unfortunate, they are all Fulani slaves, they can’t speak up. It’s better we all come out together if we truly know we’re ready to drag this, call everyone in Nigeria to join. no one needs to be scared.
“Seyi Makinde is totally mad here and we elected him as governor. He’s an unfortunate Fulani slave and he wants to go for a second term.” Igboho said.
Be that as it may, some users on Twitter have used the opportunity to cheer Igboho and at the same time drop their opinion on his recent comments.
It should, however, be noted that Igboho himself has called on everyone to join in the fight against the now-infamous Fulani herdsmen who have been alleged of kidnappings and killings in the South-West and other parts of the country.
“It’s beyond hiding now and it’s not an internet battle, everyone needs to gear up so that we can fight together. I did not collect money from anybody,” Igboho said in the vitual meeting.
Here are some comments from Twitter:
How old is ooni of Ife that igboho cannur call his nonsense for him, if that man nor stand well igboho go slap am, yes he go do am cause that man nor get any backup nah just king for show. Igboho cannur talk to alaafin like that cause he knows nkan nbe.

You opened your mouth to openly insult the Oòni. Ah! Yé!
Hmmmm, we all remember how the case between Oòni and that ceremonial monarch in that metropolis played out.
A word is enough…

Not that Sunday really has people interest at heart. Give him a political appointment now, the story changes. Our kings are the same thing, no truth will come out of their mouths. They shud be d ones doing what igboho is doing now but their pockets no go gree

Whatever side you align with, know clearly that Yoruba does not have the culture of denigrating our traditional institutions nor does a child carry a lantern to see an elder’s face.
No matter your message, you don’t call your father “stupid”. Sunday Igboho should mellow. pic.twitter.com/6aH0pjCs0J

“Were ni bọ̀bọ́ Ooni yẹn”
Sunday Igboho.
The Sanctity of Royalty is no longer respected even by a man projecting himself to be the saviour of the Yorùbá race.
A pity.

The time has come to tame him. No true Yoruba man insults the Ooni. except he is referring to someone else.

He insulted Makinde, a sitting gov and you felt it was right because u don’t like Makinde. He has called Ooni names too now. Keep growing your tiger. Keep feeding it. It would soon have u for lunch.

Igboho should do his job without criticizing anybody, I think his statements are coming from alaafin of OYO cos Buhari gives ooni the integrity than him. Yoruba kings should unite about this issue, igboho is an icon already but he shouldn’t disgrace himself.

What did ooni do when killer herdsmen were kidnapping, maiming, raping & massacring our people, It take d courage of one man who hold no traditional title or political post 2 stand up and fight for is people.
only d leader that defend is people in time of trouble deserve respect— #ONDOBOY🇳🇬 (@Temithanks22) February 3, 2021
Did you also notice how Sunday Igboho is trying to explore the age-long supremacy tussle between Alaafin and Ooni to make a point?

Ko e ye won, yio ye won lola. On the flip side, the underlying factor is that Yoruba Obas are being set against each other. The dude is trying to explore the age-long supremacy tussle between Alaafin and Ooni to score points.

He was actually in the palace of the Alaafin when making those venomous statements. There’s a bigger game at play.If you must know, Oyo and Ife had always fought the supremacy battle for the most senior of kings, and of recent the Alaafin wrote a letter to the presidency. We wait.
