South African rapper, AKA worldwide, has asked Nigerian singer Burna Boy to tender an apology to the country before his visit for the anti-xenophobic concert.
The concert tagged “Africans Unite” is expected to hold on Sunday, 24 November 2019 at Time Square Casino, Pretoria, South Africa.
WuzupNigeria reports that in the wake of xenophobic attacks in September, Burna Boy had said he would not visit South Africa unless the government resolves the issue.
He also had a face-off with AKA, threatening to go physical against him whenever their paths cross.
Following reports that he would be visiting the country for the Africans Unite concert, some South African musicians and event organisers have rejected his inclusion while others have asked him to apologise for his outburst before visiting their country.
AKA took to his Twitter page on Thursday and wrote:
Ek se … @burnaboy all we want is an apology. We know 🇿🇦 is not perfect. But we took you in as our own before you reached these levels. You say you are an AFRICAN GIANT, prove it.
— AKA (@akaworldwide) November 13, 2019
AKA’s demand has sparked another Twitter war between Nigerians and South Africans.
While Nigerians on social media backed Burna Boy and said South Africa should apologise to Africa for the xenophobic attacks, South Africans pithed their tent behind their star AKA and also asked Burna to apologise before his visit.
See some of the reactions:
Burna boy will perform in South Africa and use part of the proceeds to support those who were affected by Xenophobia. AKA who didn’t show any remorse for the victims is asking for apology for the killings and destruction. It must be crack!

South Africans are now mad at Burna Boy not just because of his comments, but because they envy Nigeria as a whole.
There’s no artiste in South Africa currently that is as big as Burna, we know it hurts but when you take your mindset off jealousy, you will be great too #Burnaboy

To start with @burnaboy never insulted South Africa, stop trying to generalize it.He said he was going to beat you which I think you deserved at that point for your hate speech. If you want an apology you should apologize first because you started it #ThursdayMotivation #Burnaboy https://t.co/B6WsDgLnGa

South Africans attacked Nigerians which made Burna boy get mad. He pledged never to go to South Africa bcos of what happened
The South African Govt decides to Apologize by inviting Burnaboy to their event to show unity but one Xenophobic drake feels he’s God and needs an apology

Y’all know that toxic person who plays victim cos you reacted to what they did to you?
Yeah, that’s what some South Africa tweeps and AKA are
Asking Burna Boy to apologise? Please ask all Nigerian victims of Xenophobia to apologise too so we know y’all are the true victims. https://t.co/0Rn0e4MBiT

BURNA has nothing to prove, he was already an African giant before you collaborated with him, reached levels that you can’t even dream of. SA would be lucky to get a performance from him , are you gonna take away the opportunity of the sa fans to listen to some proper music
— JOSEPH LETSOALO (@jose_letsoalo) November 14, 2019
South Africans insulted us by attacking Nigerians, we were mad and angry about it. Burna Boy expressed his anger in a tweet, to promote love and unity he deleted his tweet.
Now he wants to perform in SA and one Deputy Jesus said he must apologize to SA.
Because SA is what? ODEs

South Africans are Unapologetic with their Xenophobic Attacks, they enjoy attacking fellow Africans & get support from their Govt & Celebrities but they want Burna Boy to Apologise for saying he is tired of seeing his People Get Killed.
