The factional National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, has denied any knowledge of a reported meeting by members of his faction to endorse Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, for the 2027 elections.
Turaki, a former Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, made the clarification while responding to an enquiry concerning the reported gathering.
He said, “we are not aware of the meeting.”
An online medium had reported that the meeting was attended by former minister Buhari Bala and retired General Ishaya Bamayi, who were said to have facilitated discussions that reportedly ended with a resolution to back the Idris administration in the 2027 elections.
Turaki, however, maintained that his faction had no knowledge of the meeting and, consequently, could not have endorsed any decision purportedly reached at the gathering.
“We are not aware of the meeting. ‘Shirmen banaza ne’”, he said.
The denial comes as the PDP continues to grapple with internal divisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Neither the Nyesom Wike-led faction nor the Turaki-led faction has publicly named its governorship candidate for Kebbi State in the 2027 election.
