United States President, Donald Trump, is expected to travel to France in June for the Group of Seven (G7) leaders’ summit, according to reports from local media.
The summit is scheduled to take place from June 15 to 17 in the southeastern French resort town of Evian-les-Bains.
The G7 brings together seven of the world’s most advanced economies: Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States, with the European Union also participating as a member.
The forum serves as a key platform for coordinating policy responses to pressing global economic, financial, and geopolitical issues among member nations.
This year’s discussions are expected to be dominated by the economic impact of the Iran war, the closure of the Strait of Hormuz, energy security concerns, and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
Trump’s participation comes at a time of strained relations with several European allies, partly driven by disagreements over trade tariffs and his unilateral ceasefire extension policies involving Iran.
French President Emmanuel Macron is also expected to use the summit to advocate for a coordinated European stance on navigation and security in the Strait of Hormuz.
