Soldiers operating under Operation Hadin Kai have reportedly killed five suspected terrorists during a coordinated ambush in Borno State.
The incident occurred on April 29 in the Mayanti area, where troops stationed at a forward operating base were engaged in ongoing offensives linked to Operation Desert Sanity.
Intelligence gathered ahead of the mission guided the troops to strategically position themselves before encountering a group of insurgents later that evening, according to sources who spoke to Zagazola Makama.
“The troops engaged the terrorists effectively upon contact, resulting in the neutralisation of five of them,” a source said.
Following the confrontation, troops recovered several items believed to have been abandoned by the fleeing fighters.
These included two bicycles, pieces of fabric, and food supplies believed to support their logistics.
The soldiers have since repositioned to sustain operational momentum and restrict the movement of insurgents within the area.
Military authorities noted that personnel remain highly motivated as they intensify efforts against terrorist elements across the North-East.
In recent operations, Operation Hadin Kai has increased the frequency of ambushes and clearance missions, part of a broader strategy to degrade insurgent capabilities and facilitate the return of normalcy to affected communities.
