TRAGEDY AVERTED! 16 escape death in Benue crash [Photos]
At least, 16 persons, escaped death in a car crash along Gboko/Katsina-Ala Road, Benue State, on Friday, May 25, 2018.
The accident involved a Toyota Picnic SUV and one Toyota Corolla car.
The victims sustained varying degrees of injury but were rescued by a patrol team led by the state Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni.
The operatives were on a routine “Confidence-Building Patrol” along the route in the early hours of the day when they ran into the scene where all the passengers in the affected vehicles were seriously injured.
A statement by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Moses Yamu, stated that the victims were rushed to St. Christopher Catholic Clinic, Wunnune Tarka, while the CP paid for their medical bills.
The statement reads,
“CP Fatai Owoseni was touched by the varying degrees of injury sustained by the victims and ordered his convoy of more than 15 vehicles conveying a number of policemen, who accompanied him on the routine patrol, to halt and rescue the victims to the hospital.
“He, therefore, urged drivers and other road users to be conscious of the highway codes to avoid unnecessary road crashes/accidents.”
