Tottenham mourn as oldest fan dies at 106

Premier League side, Tottenham, have said farewell to their oldest fan, Irene McBride, who died at the age on 106.

The deceased who was a season ticket holder was said to have watched for 94 years.

According to UK Metro, McBride went through it all with Spurs, from the glory days of the 1960s, right up to the tumultuous reign of Jose Mourinho.

She began watching Tottenham play as a 12-year-old girl. Fast forward nine decades, Irene had an audience with Harry Kane on her 101st birthday.

But her favourite player had always been record goal scorer Jimmy Greaves.

Irene watched Spurs win six FA Cups, two UEFA cups, two league titles and one European Cup Winners Cup.

A Tottenham Hotspur spokesperson said: “We are saddened to hear of the passing of Irene McBride, until recently our oldest Season Ticket Holder, aged 106.

“Irene was a treasured member of the Spurs family who will live on in our hearts.”
