Politicians creating insecurity to win elections, says Ortom
Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom, has accused politicians of causing insecurity in the country in their attempt to manipulate elections.
Ortom stated this on Wednesday while speaking with Journalists after he returned from the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP Governors’ Forum meeting in Abuja.
He also said the country has the capacity to transmit election results electronically.
He explained that the time has come to discontinue manual voting which he said was capable to deny voters the right to vote and be counted.
“I think as a country we have come of age. We cannot go back to analog when the whole world is going digital. Mr. President must have a rethink. I want to advise him not to sign the amendment without electronic transmission.”
The governor said that the e-registration of PDP members will go a long way to entrench the real and truly democratic process which would culminate in an election in 2023.
When asked of his target in the coming PDP membership registration in the state, especially that APC in the state was claiming to have a huge number of registered members, Ortom described the APC claim as false but a rehearsal to rig the coming elections.
He however warned that whoever comes to the state during the 2023 general elections to rig would be dealt with.
“This is how they (APC) want to start rigging. We are not going to give them an inch. APC cannot conduct common ward congresses. Did you hear any rancor when we conducted our congresses? Their claim of millions of membership is fraud. We are equal to the task.
“For us here in the State, we will be fully mobilized, anyone that comes to rig election in 2023, should say his last prayer. You cannot rig where we are in the majority. It is impossible.
