Popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele, has emerged as the running mate to the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Lagos State, Olajide Adeniran

The actress’ name was included among the six shortlisted names by the Lagos State chapter of the PDP.

She was nominated alongside four other people, whose names are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, Kolawole Vaughan, Adenike Shobajo and [Rasheed] Teslim-Balogun.

In a video shared online, the actress was seen in a joyous mood with her supporters and other members of the Party at the Party’s secretariat in Lagos.

Akindele has been in the news recently largely over the break-up of her marriage to Abdulrasheed Bello, better known as JJC Skillz.

Actress Funke’s political emergence follows that of her colleague, Tonto Dikeh, who was selected as her Party’s 2023 Deputy Governorship candidate in Rivers State.
