Kim Kardashian has been awarded $167,000 in attorney’s fees after winning a lawsuit filed by a New York man who accused her of emotional distress, public ridicule, and reputational harm over a mistaken social media post.

The man, Ivan Cantu, sued Kardashian in 2025 after she posted his photo on social media during a campaign intended to highlight a death row inmate with the same name. Kardashian deleted the post shortly after, calling it a mistake, but Cantu claimed the damage was already done.

However, the judge dismissed the case, siding with Kardashian, who argued that the mix-up was an honest mistake that she corrected immediately.

According to court docs obtained by TMZ, Kardashian was awarded $167,000 of the $186,000 she requested in legal fees. Cantu had argued that being forced to pay a six-figure judgment would financially devastate him, but the judge was not persuaded.

Kardashian sought to recover her legal fees after successfully shutting down the lawsuit. The ruling turned what could have been a legal nightmare for the reality star and fashion mogul into a decisive victory.
