President Bola Tinubu has reiterated his administration’s determination to eradicate terrorism and enhance Nigeria’s diplomatic relations with global partners.

The President declared shortly before the Federal Executive Council went into a closed-door session on Thursday.

“We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism. The task ahead is to move forward with clarity of purpose guided by the Renewed Hope agenda to build a prosperous Nigeria,” he said.

The meeting, which took place at the Council Chamber of the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, marked the first session of the council since July.

Tinubu’s comments come days after U.S. President Donald Trump designated Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” a classification the Federal Government has dismissed as a misrepresentation of the nation’s security reality.

Addressing the issue publicly for the first time, Tinubu said his government is working with international partners to strengthen security, stability, and economic growth.

“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3bn Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, is a sign of confidence in our economy. The task ahead is immense, but we are resolved to move forward with unity and purpose,” he stated.

The President further assured Nigerians that the country remains steadfast and united in its pursuit of peace and prosperity.

Tinubu commended members of his cabinet for their dedication to the Renewed Hope Agenda, urging them to maintain unity and focus in implementing key government reforms.
