President Bola Tinubu has approved the payment of renewal fees amounting to about N9.6 billion for the Group Life Assurance.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, made this announcement on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council meeting in Abuja.
Idris revealed that the approval came following a memo presented by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan.
The approved funds will cover the federal workers in the case of unforeseen eventualities during the course of their duties.
According to the Minister, approximately 12 local insurance firms are involved in providing this annual coverage for workers.
“There are about 12 insurance companies involved. It’s a normal annual cover that insurance companies give workers. So, in the event of death or severe injury, they can resort to and so that their families would not have to suffer,” said Idris.
He emphasized that this approval is in line with the administration’s commitment to ensuring that all its workers receive the necessary support, contributing to enhanced efficiency, productivity, and service delivery to Nigerians.
