Three die, eight injured in Ogun road accident
Three people were confirmed dead while eight persons were injured in a fatal accident on Tuesday, on the proposed Mile 12 market, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway in Ogun State.
The accident which involved a commercial white MAZDA Bus with registration number JJJ 140 XX was reported to be conveying passengers from Sagamu to Ijebu-Ode when the lone accident occurred.
The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps blamed the accident on reckless driving.
The Corps Spokesperson, Babatunde Akinbiyi said the driver lost control and swerved into the sloppy bush near the proposed Mile 12 market.
Akinbiyi explained that the accident claimed the lives of two female adults and one female child.
He explained further that, six male adults and two females were also injured in the accident.
He noted that the injured victims were rescued and taken to Victory Hospital and Skylark hospital Ogere toll gate in the Remo-North Local Government Area of the state.
Akinbiyi, however, urged motorists to avoid speeding and reckless driving.
He said,
“We learnt it was a lone accident, with the commercial bus, which was loaded from Sagamu to Ijebu-Ode, suddenly lost control of the vehicle due to reckless/dangerous driving before it swerved into the sloppy bush near the proposed Mile 12 market..
“TRACE Corps is again using this opportunity to advise motorists to avoid over speeding, reckless and dangerous driving because of its attendant consequences.
“However, we commiserate with the family of the deceased victims of the unfortunate accident.”
