Three construction workers abducted in Ondo
Three construction workers working on the Ikaram-Akunnu-Akoko highway linking Akoko Northwest and Akoko North East local governments areas have been abducted by kidnappers.
The Ikaram-Akunnu-Akoko highway is a major road for travellers plying the North and the South West region.
It was gathered the gunmen struck on Tuesday afternoon and shot sporadically before taking the workers away.
No ransom demand has been made as of the time of filing this report.
The Ondo State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Raimi Aminu, who had inspected the 16km road and promised it would be completed in 60 days last week, has now said that the abduction of the workers would delay the construction of the road.
Ondo Police spokesman, ASP Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the abduction and said all security agencies have been deployed to the bush to ensure the release of the victims.
He said hunters were also engaged to help comb the forest.
