Three people have been arrested in connection with the death of a 2-year-old Arkansas girl who was killed in a dog attack.

According to an Aug. 4 statement from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, Earnest Jackson, 54, Christina Hart, 41, and MaKayla Jackson, 21, were each taken into custody and charged with endangering the welfare of a minor in relation to the fatal incident. It remains unclear whether any of the three have entered pleas or secured attorneys to represent them.

Deputies responded to the scene on March 28 after receiving a report of an “animal attack involving a 2-year-old girl.”

Authorities told KATV that a neighbor’s loose dog dragged the child into a wooded area. The girl was pronounced dead at the scene.

The child was identified by family members as Celeste Jackson through a GoFundMe campaign created to help cover memorial expenses.

“Celeste was a very smart baby who brought so much joy to our lives,” the fundraiser read. “She loved watching Ms. Rachel, Bluey, and Stitch, and her bright spirit touched everyone who knew her. Our family is having a hard time processing this loss, and we are doing our best to support each other as we grieve.”

As of Aug. 5, the fundraiser was approaching its $5,000 target for memorial costs.
