Those behind EFCC chair’s death threat’ll be exposed, Arewa youths vow
Some Northern youths under the aegis of Arewa Youth Assembly have vowed to commence investigation aimed towards exposing the individual(s) sending “death threat” to Abdukrasheed Bawa, the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
WUZUPNIGERIA reported that Bawa, 40, was appointed to replace the embattled ex-acting chairman of the anti-graft commission, Ibrahim Magu by the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari(retd) in February 2021.
The PUNCH had earlier reported that Bawa, in a television interview on Tuesday, said corruption was fighting back, adding that he had received a number of death threats from high-profile Nigerians.
However, AYA vowed to go further to ensure that such highly placed personalities as disclosed by the EFCC chairman himself, were prosecuted, after exposure.
While addressing a press conference in Kaduna on Thursday, the Leader of AYA, Alhaji Mohammed Danlami, noted that as a youth organization, they would support the EFCC boss to succeed in the fight against corruption in the country.
Danlami argued that since the emergence of Bawa as EFCC chair, he had achieved a lot in the war against corruption, noting that the youths of the north won’t fold their arms to see any individual or group rubbish his good work.
Danlami said, “This threat should not be taken for granted. We as youths of this country have shown our support and respect for the chairman from when he was appointed and we are ready to stand behind him to accomplish his task
“Any attack or threat on the chairman is a threat on us and we will be forced to investigate who made the threat and will use the law to deal with the person directly to act as deterrence to any other person nursing such thought.
“Mr Bawa must be supported by all well-meaning Nigerians to bring corruption to a standstill. he needs our support and prayers
“We have faith that the current EFCC chairman is no doubt a beacon to reckon with in the fight against corruption and we as a nation have to stand by him in action and prayers. we will not tolerate any threat to his life or any staff of the commission.
“He must not be deterred from doing the right thing. we are ready to fight any individual or group of individuals that threaten him.”
