The Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of full operations on the Third Mainland Bridge from Thursday, April 4, 2024.
According to a statement by the Commissioner for Transportation, Oluwaseun Osiyemi, shared on his official social media account on Saturday, the long-awaited reopening comes after extensive repairs.
The statement expressed gratitude to Lagos residents for their patience and cooperation during the period of partial closure. It read, “Dear Lagos residents, We’re pleased to share that the Third Mainland Bridge will resume full operations on April 4, 2024, following extensive repairs. We sincerely thank you for your patience and cooperation, and we look forward to even smoother travels ahead.”
The Lagos State Government had previously announced the partial closure of the bridge on January 5, 2024, with repairs commencing on January 9, 2024.
The upcoming reopening is expected to bring relief to motorists and commuters who have had to navigate alternative routes and endure traffic congestion during the repair period.
