Teary Adamawa policeman dismissed over misconduct
A poignant scene unfolded at the Adamawa State Police Command as a police officer was visibly overcome with emotion while being dismissed from the force on Wednesday, August 30.
The incident underscores the commitment of the police command to maintaining discipline and accountability within its ranks.
The dismissed constable’s profound display of emotion comes after a comprehensive investigation and Orderly room trial that resulted in his termination from service.
The officer, identified as Insp Ahmed Suleiman, along with PC Mahmood Muhammed, both previously attached to Dumne Divisional Police Headquarters, were subjected to a rigorous trial process before their dismissal.
The two officers faced many charges, including Discreditable Conduct related to Defamation of Character, Culpable Homicide, and Unlawful Exercise of Authority.
These charges were in direct violation of the First Schedule of Police Act and Regulations, Section 370, 2020 as Amended.
Following the trial, the command deemed both officers guilty of the charges and subsequently recommended their dismissal from the police force.
Additionally, the command intends to press charges against them in court, alongside any co-suspects involved in the alleged offenses.
As part of the disciplinary action, the constable has been de-kitted, marking the first step in the process of his removal from the police force.
Meanwhile, the inspector’s dismissal will be executed once specific administrative procedures have been fulfilled.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, took the opportunity to remind all officers and personnel of the command to uphold punctuality and maintain a strict adherence to discipline.
The decisive action against the dismissed officers reflects the command’s unwavering commitment to ensuring its ranks remain accountable, disciplined, and in line with ethical standards.
