A humanoid robot from Chinese robotics company, Unitree, reportedly attacked an engineer earlier in Zhejiang Province, China, in a startling incident caught on video.
The robot suddenly moved toward the engineer and knocked his remote control across the room.
As the shocked engineer attempted to move around the machine and retrieve the controller, the robot appeared to launch a second attack, jumping into the air and delivering a kick.
The incident has raised fresh questions about safety and control systems in increasingly advanced humanoid robots.
Founded in 2016, Unitree has rapidly expanded its humanoid robotics operations.
The company had reportedly built around 18,000 humanoid robots by July.
It remains unclear from the available footage what caused the robot’s sudden movements or whether the incident resulted from a technical malfunction, programming issue, or loss of remote control.
