Super Falcons begin WAFCON quest against South Africa


Super Falcons will begin their quest for their 10th title at the 2022 TotalEnergies Women’s Africa Cup of Nations against South Africa on Monday at 6 p.m.

Both finalists from the last WAFCON were drawn together in Group C.

The nine-time African champions will be looking to avenge a 4-2 loss in the final match of the first edition of the Aisha Buhari Women’s Tournament to the youthful Banyana squad in Lagos 10 months ago.

Randy Waldrum’s women who begin their quest at the Moulay Hassan Stadium, Rabat, Morocco, will also face Botswana and Burundi in Group C.

Nigeria and Barcelona Femeni’s Asisat Oshoala will be one if the stars to watch in the 14th edition of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, which began on Saturday in Morocco.

Twelve countries compete in three groups, with the top two teams from each group, as well as the two best third-placed teams, advancing to the knockout stage.
