Canada-based Nigerian doctor and social commentator Dr Zo has advised skit maker and singer Carter Efe to delete a video in which he publicly appealed for help with his United States visa.

In an Instagram video, Dr Zo warned that US immigration officials could view Carter Efe’s public appeal negatively and interpret it as desperation to enter the country. He said he addressed the matter publicly to prevent his followers from making similar mistakes.

Carter Efe had appealed to Nigerians to tag Seyi Tinubu after revealing that his US visa had not been approved. He said he needed to travel before July 15 to attend Streamer University.

Dr Zo warns against public visa appeal

Dr Zo said he deliberately avoided replaying Carter Efe’s full video because he did not want to worsen the entertainer’s situation.

“I don’t want to play this video for too long because I don’t want Carter to be more in trouble. I think Carter just made a mistake, and he should delete this video immediately,” he said.

He acknowledged that some people might question why he did not contact Carter Efe privately. However, he explained that the warning could educate other people who may consider making public appeals over immigration matters.

“I’m saying it here so that a lot of people on my page, a lot of my followers, are not going to make the same mistake again,” he said.

Dr Zo claimed that immigration officials now pay closer attention to applicants’ social media activities and could misinterpret Carter Efe’s video.

“America has changed. Immigration rules are more stringent now. They look at your social media, and they’re going to see this video,” he said.

According to him, officials could interpret the appeal as a sign that Carter Efe might not return to Nigeria after entering the US.

‘Seyi cannot influence visa decision’

Dr Zo also dismissed the belief that Seyi Tinubu could directly influence the outcome of the visa application.

He warned that immigration officers make independent decisions and suggested that political connections would not guarantee approval.

“You know the one that will shock you most? Seyi Tinubu has absolutely no power over that little man at immigration,” he said.

Despite criticising Carter Efe’s approach, Dr Zo expressed support for the entertainer and said he hoped the visa issue would end positively.

“My advice, my friend, I really wish something works out for you. I really pray because you’re a good guy, and you deserve the best,” he said.

“You worked hard enough, but this is not the right way to go about it. I think you’re making a mistake.”

He concluded by appealing directly to Carter Efe to remove the video.

“Carter, you know I love you, I root for you, and I hope it works out well for you. But please, my brother, delete this video,” he said.
