Halimat Omidina, the youngest daughter of late veteran Yoruba actor Babatunde Omidina, popularly known as Baba Suwe, has opened up about the emotional moments she shared with her father shortly before his death.

Recall that Baba Suwe passed away on November 22, 2021, aged 63.

The celebrated actor would have clocked 68 on Saturday, August 22.

Halimat, a model and content creator, reflected on her father’s life and death in posts shared on her X handle, @superstarrlimaa, on Saturday as she marked his posthumous birthday.

In an emotional tribute, she said the occasion brought back memories of the times they spent together and reminded her of how different birthdays now feel without him.

“Happy posthumous birthday, Daddy. Today feels so different, no crowd, no jollof rice, no you in your new shirt,” she wrote.

She also expressed sadness that she did not have more opportunities to create lasting memories with her father, adding that she wished she had embraced him more tightly after he spoke about his impending death.

“I wish I made more memories with you and hugged you tighter when you told me you’d die. May Allah have mercy on you and grant you Jannatul Firdaus,” she added.

In a separate post, Halimat disclosed that Baba Suwe had predicted his death two days before it happened. However, she said she did not take the statement seriously at the time because she assumed he was only joking.

“This could’ve been my mood today. Someone asked if Daddy ever told me he was going to die. Yes, he did. Two days before, he told me, but I laughed it off. I thought he was joking,” she wrote.

She further recalled receiving a phone call the next day instructing her to return home after her father’s health deteriorated.

Halimat said Baba Suwe was unable to speak when she eventually arrived, and he died roughly an hour later.

“The next day, I got a call to come home. He couldn’t talk anymore, and an hour later, he passed,” she added.

Baba Suwe enjoyed a prolific career in the Yoruba film industry and appeared in several movies, including Iru Esin, Baba Londoner, Oju Oloju and Baba Jaiye Jaiye.

His wife, actress Omoladun Omidina, popularly known as Moladun, died in 2009.
