Scotland head coach, Steve Clarke, has ended uncertainty surrounding his future after agreeing to a new four-year contract extension that will keep him in charge until 2030.

Questions had emerged over the 62-year-old’s long-term position despite guiding Scotland to consecutive European Championship appearances.

However, Clarke has now further strengthened his legacy after successfully leading the national team to their first men’s World Cup qualification since 1998.

The contract extension comes just weeks before Scotland begin their World Cup campaign against Haiti in Boston, with Clarke now set to remain at the helm beyond this summer’s tournament.

“It’s a true honour to lead this squad into our first men’s World Cup in 28 years, and I’m proud to continue as head coach,” Clarke said.

He added: “I know Scotland’s supporters appreciate what this group has achieved with consecutive Euros qualifications, and I’m sure the whole country celebrated our long-awaited qualification for World Cup 2026.

“Looking ahead and planning for the future is vital. While my squad will give everything to compete and make the nation proud in the United States this summer, this new deal gives us certainty. We can now build on these foundations for the long term, and it’s a privilege to carry on in this role.”
