Okorocha Osinbajo

If there are some outstanding traits the outgoing Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha is known for, it will surely be his bravery and bluntness when it comes to airing his opinion.

He bares his mind without minding whose ox is gored, and that was exactly what he did at the last National Economic Council (NEC) meeting chaired by the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo in Abuja.

While extolling Osinbajo’s virtues at the meeting which had in attendance governors from the 36 states, Okorocha didn’t take many by surprise with his strange public advice to the Vice President.

In a video of the meeting shared on Twitter, Okorocha advised the Vice President to distance himself from people like the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Adams Oshiomole and Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.

His comment elicited laughter from those at the meeting, except El-Rufai who was seen showing an indifferent remark as Okrocha was speaking.

He said,

“Our greatness as a nation is not as a result of our population. Neither is it because of the mighty military nor the crude oil that we have or our political parties or what we practice.

“Our greatness lies in the family spirit with which you have handled the affairs of this NEC (National Economic Council).

“I feel like a member of a family when I look at my left and right. Even the worse of them like the Oshiomholes and El-rufais. Even with these I still feel as a member of the feel.

“These people I have mentioned, Mr. Chairman, I do not why you share one thing in common with them. May I request you to distance yourself henceforth from them.”

Recall that Okorocha has blamed his political travails on the leadership of the APC, especially the refusal of the INEC to issue him a Certificate of Return after his acclaimed victory in the Imo West senatorial district election.

WuzupNaija reports that the embattled governor recently filed two suits at the Federal High Court in Abuja where he accused Oshiomhole and other APC leaders of instigating EFCC, ICPC, DSS, CCT and other law enforcement agencies to arrest and harass him and his family members when his immunity expires on May 29.
