Man Utd bounce back with 3-0 win over Tottenham

Published

Manchester United defeated Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in London to bounce back from their 5-0 humiliation at the hands of Liverpool last Sunday.

The defeat to Liverpool left Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s job on the line while the entire squad bury their heads in the sand as they received bashing from every angle.

Determined to make amends, Solskjaer fielded five defenders including Raphael Varane who returned from injury as he paired Cristiano Ronaldo and Edinson Cavani upfront for the first time.

Ronaldo fired the Red Devils ahead with a sumptuous finish in the 39th minute after a sublime assist from Bruno Fernandes.

The former Juventus star then teed up his strike mate, Cavani (64′) for a classy finish to make it 2-0.

Marcus Rashford came in as a sub and rounded off the 3-0 victory with another composed finish in the 86th minute off an assist from Nemanja Matic.

The victory takes United to fifth on the log and although the win may ease the pressure on Solskjaer, the Norwegian remains in the woods with an away Champions League clash to Atalanta before next weekend’s cracking Manchester derby.

United return home celebrating their first victory in five Premier League matches and their second clean sheet of the season after conceding nine in their last two matches.

Spurs on the other hand didn’t get a single attempt on target for the first time at home since 2013, according to UK Guardian quoting Sky Sports.
