EURO 2020: Italy, Spain, others in quarter-finals

The 2020 European Championship Round of 16 wraps up on Tuesday with a mouthwatering encounter between England and Germany while Sweden take on Ukraine for the two remaining quarterfinal slots.

A total of 24 teams started the competition taking place in multiple venues in Europe but only 16 teams made it to the first phase of the knockout stages with the likes of Scotland, Poland, Turkey, and Russia crashing out in the group stages.

Of the teams that made the Round of 16, Defending Champions Portugal, alongside France, and the Netherlands are the biggest casualties, joined by Croatia, Austria and Wales so far, with two more left to join.

Out of 51 matches to be played in this year’s tournament, 41 have been played so far, producing a total of 115 goals with Spain leading the goals chart with 11 total goals while Italy have produced the most attempts, 87, so far in the competition.
