Nigerian standup comedian and actor, Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule, better known as Okey Bakassi, has lambasted commenters who post meaningless comments on celebrities’ social media posts.

Okey Bakassi, on Tuesday, posted a video on his Instagram wall in which he wondered why internet trolls do not take a pause before writing ‘baseless and meaningless’ comments on social media posts.

He advised to trolls to either move one after reading a post or try to understand the message before making comments.

The comedian, who won the “Best Actor in a Leading Role” category at the 2014 edition of the Best of Nollywood Awards for his role in the film Onye Ozi, further asked such people to spare the world their stupidity.

He said,

It has become very clear to me why people fail exams. Is it not common sense that if you don’t understand anything or you don’t understand something you ask somebody who knows? Even in African culture, those days when things are too confusing for them, they even consult oracles to even find the answer so why rush to click the reply button on somebody’s post on social media when you don’t understand the point. 

I don’t understand it. You  reply and you will just talk nonsense, off point. Something wey no concern wetin they post, you just go and reply. If you read post and just move on anything wan happen to you. I don’t even understand it, many people don’t borrow themselves sense, wetin you know understand, ask questions. Don’t go to the public sphere and express your stupidity.
