LA Knight’s upcoming WWE World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns at Money in the Bank 2026 could feature an unexpected development, with WWE Hall of Famer Bully Ray proposing a possible connection between Knight and the 946 faction.

Knight is scheduled to challenge Reigns for the title, but Ray believes the match could become more complicated if Knight decides to enlist outside assistance. According to the wrestling veteran, an association with 946 could give Knight additional support while creating another layer of intrigue around the championship contest.

Speaking on the “Busted Open Radio” podcast, Ray suggested that Knight could work alongside members of 946 without necessarily becoming the faction’s leader.

“What if the swerve is, LA Knight is with 946? Not the leader of 946, but just associated with them? LA Knight, a couple weeks ago, said, ‘Roman, I’ve never needed anybody.’ Well, what if at Money in the Bank, LA Knight does bring in a couple of guys to do the dirty work. I’m trying to give a suggestion that would work if, and only if, they were trying to get the championship off of Roman for a short period of time.”

Ray went on to explain how such a development could immediately raise questions among WWE fans, particularly if outside involvement affected the title match.

“That would get people thinking like, ‘Holy s***, you’re right.’ “There wasn’t anybody involved in the Penta match, but there were people involved in the LA Knight match. That’s why LA Knight might have to fight fire with fire and take matters into his own hands.’”

The possibility comes as Knight prepares for another singles encounter with Reigns. During a recent interview with James Sweetnam, Knight reflected on the lengthy build-up to another one-on-one meeting with the former Universal Champion.

“At this point, we’ve been three years in the running for this whole thing, and it’s been three years since Roman (Reigns) and I have gone one-on-one. And hopefully, we’ll see if things come out a little different this time. But if that moment happens to finally come to fruition now, I would say it’s long overdue.”

Knight also acknowledged the possibility that Reigns could receive assistance from The Bloodline, an issue that could influence how the championship match unfolds.

“The bottom line is this: The Bloodline, and all that stuff, with that being involved and in and out of the ring. Are they going to come down? Are they going to get involved? Look, he’s proven himself this year to be able to do things on his own. If he keeps that up, that’ll probably be his downfall. Yeah.”

With both wrestlers aware of the potential for outside interference, the Money in the Bank title bout could ultimately hinge on whether either side receives unexpected backup.

For now, Ray’s 946 theory remains a suggestion rather than a confirmed development. However, if WWE chooses to incorporate the faction into the championship storyline, it could significantly alter the dynamics surrounding Knight’s attempt to take the World Heavyweight Championship from Reigns.
